I haven't used this particular app, but we use php groupware, connected to a 
postgres db.

Is there a config file where you specify the postgres connections?  Typically, 
you create a user for that application and then you or the application setup 
scripts create a postgres database.  Normally, it's a matter of putting the 
connection info into a php config script.

The biggest issue I've had with postgres is setting up the configuration 
security in the pg_hba.conf file.

Also, did you see anything in the postgres logs?
