You wouldn't want to read the man pages for fstab and mount, which will
tell you that the 4th field is mount options and what the defalut
options are, would you?

So now we know that chattr doesn't work on xfs either (it may work on
reiser by now).  Do the xfs docs say anything about how it handles
permissions?  Is there any kind of config file for xfs?

You might consider asking on a mandrake list.  But let us know what the
answer is.
