There is hardware you can install in your breaker box, if there's room.
I'd be surprised if there weren't info on the G.E. and Square-D websites
(not time for me to look this morning).

BTW, the only time I've had a known lightning surge, I was using a
TrippLite IsoTel protector. It fried, and so did the modem.
