ditto, snowcrash was a great (and really short compared to 
cryptonomicon, which was just unbelieveable (in a really good way)) 
'cyberpunk' type novel set in the not too distant future.

hehe, i still love 'Reason' from that book :) (you'll have to read it to 
find out what it can do, but ponder a multibarrel railgun with depleted 
uranium rounds)
